MARIUS DC

"Bounding all over the stage with unbelievable energy (…) Holy shit, I don’t think I’ve had so much fun at a gig in a long time. (…)he is undeniably an incredible entertainer and performer, the like of which I rarely come across (…) And what’s more: his band was great. Like, really, really, genuinely good, despite also all being babies. This is the one thing that might give Marius the edge long term."

The Reykjavík Grapevine

"Faroese rap – that most common of exports – is gunning for the big time. It comes in the form of Marius DC, an energetic eighteen-year-old who is hellbent on proving that his sound transcends the confines of his home island. His impressive stage presence sees him jumping into the crowd to whip up an early evening crowd"

Marius DC is a Faroese rapper and producer.

Born and raised in one of the smallest countries in the world, Marius Dam Christophersen has been a lifelong believer in himself. At 10 years of age, he was the youngest to ever hold a professional solo visual art exhibit in the Faroes. At 13, he performed as as a backing singer in his first ever stage musical.

4 years on, he’s still marching to his own drums, and this time, they’re trap beats. The prodigal son of the Faroese rap scene, Marius sets himself apart from his local peers with a youthful attitude and a distinctly international musical identity that is from the Faroes, but for the world.

The rapper released his debut single, “Drip Drop” in mid-2019, followed by a string of locally successful singles and the critically acclaimed “MZA EP” that got him nominated for 4 national music awards and an eventual Best New Artist win.

Following the big win, the MC retracted into a period of creative hibernation, releasing only one collaborative single and a feature for the entirety of 2020. During this, he quietly spent months in the studio, steadily crafting a new batch of entirely self-produced tracks that are more punchy, clever and hard-hitting than ever.

Trading his signature long hair and hoodies for puffer jackets and snap-backs, the new DC is clearly a changed man (or boy), but two things remain, his relentless, speedy, nonstop flow, and his confident, borderline-egotistical attitude.

2021 is shaping up to be a big year for the now 17 year old rapper, with his first ever music video for the breakout track “Woah” and several singles already released, Marius DC is an artist to watch for the future.
